wakeupandworkoutI’m a little obsessed with working out first thing in the morning because I LOVE the way it makes me feel! When accomplish this goal, I know I got my workout in for the day and I’ve just set the tone for my day…. Β but getting up and working out always seems like such a challenge! So here’s what I did today to make sure I got it done:

#1 – I got all my stuff ready the night before
I made sure I had everything that I thought I needed and set it out so it would be ready when I got up. Clothes, sports bra, socks, shoes, towel, interval timer, music – I even put my water bottle in the fridge so it would be cold. πŸ˜‰

#2 – I made sure my workout clothes motivated me
I’m no fashionista, but I love workout clothes! I think it’s because they’re so comfortable so often they’re slimming as well. I got some CUTE stuff from Ogorgeous that makes me want to Train Like a Beast & Look Like a Beauty.

#3 – I got the right shoes… finally
In the past, I was going about the tennis shoe thing all wrong. There is a difference between casual tennis, cross trainers, walking shoes, and running shoes. I had been trying to run in the wrong shoes (cross trainers) so it’s no wonder why I felt like my feet were full of lead and my shins hurt the next day. Get the right shoes, especially if you’re gonna run!

#4 – I got a good night’s sleep
Your body needs at least 8 hours of sleep every night, especially when you’re working out. It needs to rest, recoup, andΒ rejuvenateΒ before going at it again. My goal is to be in bed every night by 10pm and then up by 6am (confession – I do get sucked into ScandalΒ just about every Thursday – argh!).

#5 – I’m keeping it interesting
I recently downloaded the Couch to 5K app on my iPhone from Active.com. It’s a fun training plan for beginning runners. It’s designed to help you get off the couch and run a 5K by training just 30 minutes a day, 3 days a week, for 9 weeks. It has “personal trainers” to help you and one the trainers is Johnny Dead – a zombie that “chases” you. I’m such a fan of shows like The Walking Dead, Supernatural, and True Blood, that this instantly appealed to me and got me excited to use it. πŸ™‚
