keep going1 – Set Smart Goals

Clear, measurable, time-bound goals are where it all starts. You should start with your ultimate goal, which is usually your goal weight or dress size, but could be something else of meaning to you. Then work your way backwards with a few steps you’d need to reach to get there. Set a time frame and go for it! If you keep your eyes on the prize at all times, it will help keep your motivation up.

2 – Make a Plan

Create a plan for every step. You need to schedule the days and times you’ll workout, make out your grocery list before you go to the store each week, and make a meal plan for the week.

3 – Set Reminders

Don’t allow yourself to forget or get side tracked when life gets in the way. Use post it notes to remind you of your goals and put them around your bedroom and bathroom. Write down why you want to lose weight and get healthy, and re-read it when you find your resolve is wavering. Use your cell phone to set reminders when you’ve scheduled your work out, to drink more water, and to take your Skinny Fiber 30 minutes before your two largest meals (Siri is great for this, if you’ve got an iPhone).

4 – Get an Accountability Partner

Partner with a friend, family member, or co-worker so you can hold each other accountable for your healthy new lifestyles. You can help each other stay on track by making healthy food choices together, sharing recipes, and becoming work out buddies by going to the gym together or fitness classes. If you don’t have anyone like that you want to partner with, online social groups are great alternatives to get the support you need as well.

5 – Visualize Your Goal

The mind is so powerful, so if you take a few minutes to visualize your goal – really imagine yourself reaching it and how that will feel – you’ll find some excitement in that. Create a vision board with pictures that symbolize your goal. It can include before pics that will remind you of why you want to change (keep it positive though), ideal pics showing how you looked at you best, and other inspiring images that will help motivate you to stay on track.

6 – Stay Inspired

Start compiling an inspiration arsenal. This may include motivational speaker audios, positive affirmations, and books that inspire and uplift you. Try watching videos that make you feel motivated and even movies that leave you feeling like you can do anything you set your mind to (like Pursuit of Happyness or Cinderella Man).

7 – Reward Yourself & Celebrate Successes

Rewards can be a great motivator. Pick something that you want and promise it to yourself when you reach your goal. It can be a new pair of shoes, clothes, a trip to visit an out of town friend, or whatever you like. The important thing is that you celebrate your success once you reach your goal because it will leave you feeling good about what you did and empower you for the future.
